Is Israel the Final Dividing Factor for Christians in the End Times?

Posted by Olivier Melnick on December 1, 2023

King Solomon warned us in Ecclesiastes 1:9, "That which has been is that which will be, And that which has been done is that which will be done. So there is nothing new under the sun." So, when it comes to Satan and his hatred of the Jewish people, nothing has changed as to his ultimate goal, but his methods keep morphing and adapting to the times we live in. He hates the Jewish people as much as God loves them, and because the return of Yeshua and His reign in Jerusalem is connected to a Jewish invitation and acceptance of Yeshua as the Messiah of Israel (Zechariah 12:10), he [Satan] is obsessed with the complete destruction of the Jews. Even though he has never fully succeeded and never will (Jeremiah 31:35-37), he keeps trying, which results in many casualties, the highest being the Holocaust.

Incidentally, with 1,200 innocent victims, including very young children and the elderly, the October 7, 2023, terrorist attack was the highest Jewish death toll since the Holocaust. The aftermath of the attack has polarized the world. Israel is the polarizing factor.

It took less than a week for the world to take sides either with Israel or with the Palestinians, not to mention Hamas. The mere fact that some "civilized" people would even consider siding with Hamas and their bloody carnage is a mystery to me, but it is a reality nevertheless. Within a week of the massacre, the number one topic was no longer the terrorist attack but Israel's response to the attack in the form of Gaza ground operations to eradicate Hamas.

There were even those who spoke of the need for Israel to respond proportionally. So, I am curious: does that mean that IDF soldiers should have gone into the Gaza Strip and brutally murder infants, children, women, the elderly and the handicapped? That would be equivalent to what took place on October 7, but I do not think that this is what they meant. This is the epitome of double standards!

On October 7, Hamas declared war on Israel, and when a war takes place, there are casualties, which include civilians. It is inevitable. Israel didn't provoke Hamas, but she responded to the bloodiest terrorist attack since 1948. Additionally, as they always do, the IDF reached out to the Palestinians living inside the Gaza Strip to let them know in advance that they would get in to destroy Hamas. No other country in the history of the world has ever warned people before they attack. This goes contrary to basic warfare. But Israel is more concerned about saving lives than killing innocent people, even if the lives saved are on the enemy's side.

To be sure, Palestinians are not the enemy...Hamas is! Palestinians are victims of Hamas, as we have seen them [Hamas] force people to stay in Gaza and even use people as human shields.

The issue of Israel is quickly and globally becoming a dividing factor. We are witnessing people chanting, "From the River to the Sea, Palestine shall be free!" on university campuses, public places and even government places. The vast majority of young people chanting that motto do not even know its meaning. In the search for what they believe is social justice, they become blinded to the truth and misguided by historical revisionism. Unbeknownst to them, they are calling for a complete genocide of the Jewish people. They are promoting a 21st-century version of "The Final Solution to the Jewish Question."

There will always be people who support Israel's right to exist, based on the biblical covenants and brought onto the modern stage by the Balfour Declaration (1917), the San Remo Conference (1920) and the United Nations partitioning vote (1947). The concern is that people who support Israel are becoming a rarity, even within the evangelical camp. Why are Christians turning their back on Israel? Why are people silent about the original massacre that took place on October 7? How could such an irrational move take place?  How could the victims become the perpetrators and be called the "Nazis of the Middle East?" The answer can be found in the Bible through the words of the prophet Zechariah.

In the End times–which we are very quickly approaching–the entire world will gang up against Israel. Zechariah 12:3 says, "It will come about in that day that I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who lift it will be severely injured. And all the nations of the earth will be gathered against it." Taken literally and in context, this simply means that eventually, the whole world will go against the Jews and Israel without exception, at least corporately. It doesn't mean that every single human being will become an enemy of the Jews, but rather that every country and/or government will become Israel's enemy, while some of the people within might remain friendly to the Jewish state. The result will be the same and can be found just a few verses later in Zechariah 12:9, "And in that day I will set about to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem," when God vows to avenge Israel and destroy all of her enemies.

None of what is happening should come as a surprise to students of the Bible who also take Bible prophecy seriously. The world is not falling apart; God's program is falling into place! Israel might increasingly be viewed as a thorn in the flesh of the world and a hindrance to world peace, but God will not be fooled.

As we approach the final chapter of history before the return of the Messiah, Israel will undoubtedly become more and more of a pariah on a global scale, but that will never change God's promise to preserve her and His promise to also destroy all those who go after her. It is very sad to see people take sides with Hamas and victimizing the perpetrators. I personally cannot fathom how a Bible-believing Christian can possibly love God so much and hate Israel so much at the same time. Asaph spoke against that very behavior in Psalm 83:1-5, "O God, do not remain quiet; Do not be silent and, O God, do not be still. For behold, Your enemies make an uproar, And those who hate You have exalted themselves. They make shrewd plans against Your people, And conspire together against Your treasured ones. They have said, “Come, and let us wipe them out as a nation, That the name of Israel be remembered no more.” For they have conspired together with one mind; Against You they make a covenant"

That's right... if you hate Israel, you hate the God of Israel! As a Christian, you cannot be in God's will to bring Him glory and hate His chosen people. As the whole world is becoming increasingly polarized on the issue of Israel, Christians shouldn't hesitate; they should take God's side and be friendly to Israel. This might become the best opportunity we have to rebuild bridges burnt by centuries of antisemitism and share the hope we all have in Messiah.

Standing up and speaking out for the truth and in support of Israel and the Jewish people might feel lonely, but ultimately, we are standing with God!

  1. I love hearing another true brother in Christ Jesus speak the tru Israel Jewish people of Israel should be loved and prayed for by all who call themselves a Christian. We all would be lost and on our way to Hell forever if it were not for the faithfulness of the faithful men and women who obeyed GOD. Abraham, Moses, David, Esther, Rahab, Mary, Elizabeth, Samson, Daniel, Matthew, Mark, John, Paul, and Soo many more Saint. Every time I hear the truth being shared it makes me so happy. The Lord Jesus bless you and use you for His Kingdom and Glory. Amen.

  2. Totally disagree that the Palestinians are not the enemy. They certainly are. Satanically inspired Islam, and all who are in that abomination, are the enemy...FULL.STOP.

How can you not see that and say that? Time to stop defending this Satanic religion and the people in it.

    1. They are indoctrinated in their schools and are taught, "from the ocean to the sea" throughtout their "education".

      1. Doesn't change a thing. Islam needs to be eliminated and I pray God will do it soon. He told the Jews to utterly destroy the Canaanites and they did not and now we are all going to pay the price and this garbage will be coming to America and Europe soon enough. The fury I feel for this satanic religion knows no bounds. I despise it and all of it's demonic followers. It is pure evil.

    2. remember that our war is a spiritual war...
Those who embrace such a genocidal ideology are being led by evil spiritual forces into atrocities designed to impact the most innocent and vulnerable among us most of all...

The attacks against the Israelis are another example of what has already been going on forever... but more significantly and specifically and progressively since Roe v Wade passed .. which has led to the similarly indefensible and tortuous destruction of the millions of babies that have already been 'legally' sacrificed to that same evil spiritual force. that continues to poison the minds of so many in the world today....

Those deceived into service to that evil spiritual force are wrong... but it is the force itself which is ultimately the enemy of all of us... including those who serve it... inadvertently... or purposefully

It is THAT force which we must resist and stand against... but of course that force works THROUGH those human beings who submit to it.. so somehow we have to try to help them recognize how they are being used ...while also helping them become free from the trap they are in...

      How do we do this??

I honestly don't know what or how to do this.... there is PRAYER... which is mightily transformative .... but there be more ways to stem this tide of societal suicide and homicide ...

but WHAT specifically I just don't know..

  3. Yes, Amen. Believers in Jesus Christ must not be silent on this issue of standing with Israel. To remain silent is to be in disagreement with God. Israel is not perfect but their being perfect was not a requirement for God making His covenant with them, nor in being faithful to His promise to them.

  4. When they say that the Palestinian people are not in agreement with Hamas, is an oxymoron! They voted for Hamas to represent them!! Knowing what Hamas stood for! Didn’t they?

  5. This is an interesting piece but you leave out an important fact. As soon as Hamas attacked Israel on October 7 Israel declared war and began a three week aerial attack on Gaza. The bombs themselves were warnings. Israel notified Gazans to get out, yes, but they could not escape Gaza. They could only move to areas within Gaza, nearly impossible with over 2 million people in a fenced area of approximately 25 miles by 3 miles. They were being herded like cattle, many dying in the evacuations.

The ground portion of the Israeli-Hamas War didn’t begin until October 27. There was three weeks of Israel pounding Gaza with rockets, killing thousands of Palestinian civilians and destroying their homes throughout the enclave, and hospitals-they couldn’t find care for their injuries. As much as Hamas is a terrorist organization, as the world’s nations watch the destruction of Gaza thinking people are wondering if there is more than one terrorist organization participating in this war.

    1. Correct. Hamas is one of the tentacles of the Muslim Brotherhood who I believe still has a foothold in Egypt and other nations.

Egypt is complicit in its refusal to permit civilian refugees from leaving. This is to maximize civilian casualty while acting as a "mediator". Granted, there is the possibility of enemy combatants fleeing within the civilian ranks. This has already happened in the humanitarian corridors from the North to the South. The other neighboring nations also refuse to receive Palestinian refugees for this same reason. The other reason is that they don't want these enemy combatants in their own country to cause internal trouble.

All the while, truly uninvolved citizens suffer at the hands of Hamas, being shot in the back while fleeing to the south and others encouraged to stay unprotected from the advancing forces. Remember the 1000 Gazan Christians holed-up in churches? I wouldn't be surprised if Hamas would confiscate all white cloth so civilians couldn't identify themselves with a flag of surrender.

    2. Zero sympathy for any of them. They are every bit as bad as Hamas for voting them in.

Actions have consequences and now these people are reaping theirs. I will never shed a tear for a single one.

They should have been eliminated back in the Old Testament when God said wiped them out. They did not and now we will all pay a price when it comes to America and Europe.

    3. Hamas is reliant on people like you when you accuse Israel of terrorism, fighting a war they didn't start.

How many "palestinians" has Israel raped, mutilated and killed?

How many "palestinians" has Israel dragged from their beds, held hostage for two months and continuously sexually and mentally violated?

Are you even aware of all Hamas atrocities?

May the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob forgive you and open your eyes to the Truth.

  6. It’s important to note that at least two surveys have shown that 75-85% of Gazans supported the October 7th attacks. I’m not saying that there aren’t innocent people in Gaza. Nor would I imply that Israel should change its policy of doing everything it can to prevent “civilian” casualties. However, this certainly puts a dent in the “innocent civilians” narrative. The truth is that Hamas has and still does have widespread support from the Palestinian population

  7. “To be sure, Palestinians are not the enemy…Hamas is! Palestinians are victims of Hamas,”
This is pure nonsense, every phallustinkian is a MUZSLIME, the war is about izslime/ MUZSLIME not about “terrorists” and “ phallustinkians”. ALL MUZSLIME are jihadists until we get that right we will never defeat them!

  8. White House Documents Donald Trumps Peace Plan

    REALISTIC TWO-STATE SOLUTION
The principles set forth in this Vision for Peace, Prosperity and a Brighter Future (collectively, this “V I S I O N ”), are designed for the benefit of Palestinians, Israelis and the region as a whole. This Vision addresses today’s realities, and provides the Palestinians, who do not yet have a state, with a path to a dignified national life, respect, security and economic opportunity and, at the same time, safeguards Israel’s security.
A realistic solution would give the Palestinians all the power to govern themselves but not the powers to threaten Israel. This necessarily entails the limitations of certain sovereign powers in the Palestinian areas (henceforth referred to as the “Palestinian State”) such as maintenance of Israeli security responsibility and Israeli control of the airspace west of the Jordan River. This Vision creates a realistic Two-State solution in which a secure and prosperous State of Palestine is living peacefully alongside a secure and prosperous State of Israel in a secure and prosperous region.
